It's hard to tell from your elevation graph, but it appears that the hike got quite steep at the halfway-up point. Is it all foot-hiking, or are you forced to do any hand-over-hand scrambling up the hill?

!!! All of your posts are so well done, Andrew. I really enjoyed looking in on your trip to the Orkney Islands. Also, you're very fortunate to have Sonia as a travel companion. I'm personally trying to coax the Mrs. into a wilderness canoe trip, but she's still a bit hesitant - concerned about bears or something. Again, very nice. Keep hiking!

Scott - the profiles always look worse as the horizontal is far more condensed; this hike was 25km across by 1km up but the graph is nothing like that. In this instance the dotted lines on the plot are 200m apart. I have done some scrambling and I don't mind it in small doses. I will always say if the hikes include some of that.

I must say I really liked your plot of the plane ride, excellent stuff, and that also looked very steep!

Eric - thank you very much, as are yours. Sonia is a worthy companion but will also shrink away sometimes, mainly from the scrambling/big drop/extreme bad weather end of things, but that's just women! (o;
