Walk date: 10/07/05
My Munro #'s: 39 and 40

East from Stob Coire nam Beith toward Stob Coire Sgreamhach:

A snack on Stob Coire Sgreamhach:

Paul and Andrew walks 2005. 5 hours. The ascent of the first hill here was unrelenting from the start. A short section of scrambling to the lochans below Stob Coire nam Lochan bringing the only variety. Following this there was more of the same before a slight dip and an ok ascent to Bidean nam Bian. After this start, the route across to Stob Coire Sgreamhach was easy. Returning to the col, the descent route starts with a steep channel of red gravel where you slide rather than walk, before coming out onto loose scree. The nature of this descent is quite tiring to start with but calms down once it begins to bottom out into an attractive hidden glen. It was just below the cloud on this route that two attractive young hikers passed us on their way up. We started chatting amicably until Paul came out with the clanger, 'It's an ok route apart from the treacherous parts', at which they decided to continue. We spent the remainder of the day coming up with really great and charming lines, but sadly for no reason! Traveled back to Aberdeen after this hike.
