New blogs and little news...

Just a quick note to flag up some new entries to my blog roll.  These being: old sixth form pal and member of lengendary experimental band 'Spunk', Dr Paul Wilson, who has a penchant for articulate rants from the world of academia; Jolan his partner, a published author and fellow runner; and Eric from Minnesota whose outdoor enthusiasm lead him over to my page.  US-Scot Scott should also get a mention for being the last entry before that.

There is little other news except that I am currently trying out Apple's web browser Safari.  I like it a lot, especially its simplicity and one row of info above the viewing window instead of 286 like with Explorer. However, I can't seem to get YouTube videos when using it.  Anyone have any ideas?

Sonia and I are off to a wedding in Fort William this coming Saturday (a full day after Sonia's intended submission date!).  On the Monday we then go to Orkney for a week with the whisky crew.  It will be very good.  A write-up will eventually appear here.  Blog soon...

Mainstream-o-meter

From my friends list Sonia comes 'top' with the least mainstreamness at 15.28%. My weakness for R.E.M. and The White Stripes rack me up to 17.71%, but I'm still particularly impressed with Superqueens' score of 0.01% mainsteam; I'm so down with the kids!

Dolphins!

This Saturday, courtesy of Sonia's friend Caroline and the Seawatch Foundation, some friends and I went on a dolphin-spotting cruise from Stonehaven to Aberdeen and back. From a nice and warm sunny morning at Stonehaven, we were soon chilled to the bone as we moved northwards against the wind and into the grey of the Aberdeen haar. Also, after two and a half hours, despite happy spottings of numerous seals, puffins and guillemots, Flipper had resolutely failed to show. However, a call from Claire signalled our first two of the day just outside Aberdeen harbour. We were happy to have seen this shy pair, but they pailed in comparison to the displays we were to soon receive on our way back to Stoney; two separate groups of a half-dozen or so dolphins travelling north as they fed, and the second group complete with inquisitive and very cute calf!
