Meall nan Tarmachan with Loch Tayside to the south-east:

The less than pyrimidal Meall a' Choire Leith:

Meall Corranaich and the route from the north:

This day consisted of two walks. Why drive all that way for just one? As the first didn't take long, I simply moved the car up the road and set off again. An efficiencies of sorts!

From the unofficial car park between the two official 'P's, a quick ascent of Meall nan Tarmachan was followed by the full ridge, which included a bottleneck of slippy gravel and rock causing many hikers problems. Swinging to the south on the return to the car on practically a road, progress remained quick. Shifting the car to the cairn at the head of the Lochan na Lairige resevoir, I started north-east over a lot of tiring heather and bog. The ascent of Meall a' Choire Leith was slow in blazing sun; sunburn did ensue. However, the crossing to Meall Corrainaich was easy enough and was followed by a quick descent. Despite not parking there on this occasion, I made a welcomed return to the Ben Lawers Hotel for another coffee and dessert. Wonderful stuff!
